Better Catholic is a Catholic channel of prayer on video, with a companion book for each work, published in English, Spanish and Portuguese. The project also has its own Spanish edition, Católico Mejor, and a Portuguese one.
We publish guided nine-day novenas, prayer journeys with a saint, meditations on the liturgy, and video series of public-domain classics of the faith, such as The Imitation of Christ. Each video leads into a complete prayer and closes with The Way of the Day: perceive what touched you, decide on one concrete gesture, and live it that same day.
Every work has a companion book, made to be printed, written in, and prayed alone, with your family, or in a prayer group.
In the videos and in the books, the prayer is always the traditional one, complete, and always the one the faithful actually pray. We do not cut it, we do not summarize it, and we never write a prayer of our own to replace one that already exists. This website does not publish the text of the prayers: they live in the videos and in the companion books. Before any script is written, we research where each text comes from: who wrote it, which book, shrine or document publishes it, what is tradition and what is a Church document. That research appears on the page of each work and, in most books, printed in the first pages.
What is ours, we say is ours: the meditations and The Way of the Day are our own writing. Older public-domain works are rendered by us, faithful to the original, and we never copy a copyrighted translation. A fact without a source does not go in.
All of our content follows the teaching of the Catholic Church and her Magisterium. Before publication, every book is reviewed on three fronts: doctrine, the text of the prayers, and editing. Our videos are not homilies and do not replace Mass, Confession or spiritual direction: they are a daily help to pray.
Better Catholic is an evangelization project produced by Rhodium Tecnologia, a company based in Brasília, Brazil. Authorship is institutional: the videos and the books are signed by the project itself. To reach us, please use the contact page.
The videos are free on our YouTube channels. For most works, the companion book in PDF is free as well: you enter your email on the work’s page and the book arrives in your inbox. When there is a paid edition, it is sold on Amazon, as a Kindle eBook and, in English and Spanish, also in print.
The narration in our videos uses a synthesized voice. Only the voice: the content is the prayer of the Church, complete, with its source researched. Recording every day in three languages would not be possible any other way, and we would rather say so plainly.
